Ms. Urvi Piramal oversees a professionally managed conglomerate with business interest in real estate, textiles, engineering and renewable energy. She is the guiding force behind the Group’s sustained and profitable growth; which is bringing the Group companies closer to realizing her vision of touching the lives of one in five people around the globe.
Ms. Piramal plays a leading role in envisioning and formulating the Group’s strategies in the businesses. The Group’s real estate foray has been driven by her foresight and her sharp business acumen has played an immeasurable role in placing Peninsula Land Limited as one of the top real estate companies in India. She has been instrumental in the Group’s diversification and foray into the renewable energy sector and set up a hydro power generation project in Himachal Pradesh.
Ms Piramal has been a member of Technology and Quality Improvement Committee of IMC since its inception in 1994, and also the Chairperson of Supply Chain & Retail business (Internal Trade) Committee (04-05).
She has a Bachelor of Science degree and has attended the Advance Management Program at Harvard Business School. Ms. Piramal has received a number of awards for her contribution to business. She was awarded the Qimpro Gold Standard Award for excellence in Managing Quality Improvement programmes across the Group. She has won the Outstanding Woman Industrialist Award presented by the Marinelines Junior Chamber and the Yami Woman Award for her outstanding contribution to business. She also has to her credit the Cheminor Award from the India Institute of Materials Management. She was honoured with the Giants International Award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to business in 2015.
She is a Trustee of the Piramal Education Trust, Ashok G Piramal Trust and Urvi Ashok Piramal Foundation (UAPF) which has been set up for the underprivileged. Through these trusts, Ms Piramal has initiated social projects within the Group.
The Foundation runs 7 mobile health vans at Bagar in Rajasthan, Ankleshwar in Gujarat and Nagpur in Maharashtra, providing quality health-care at peoples’ doorstep. She is on the board of Population First, an NGO working on creating awareness for the girl child. Ms Piramal is a wildlife enthusiast and spends her leisure time reading, listening to music and traveling extensively.
Harsh Piramal heads the textiles and renewable energy businesses of the Group.
Harsh has been responsible for leading a turnaround at Morarjee Textiles since he began leading the company in 2004. The company is now planning to expand its operations and regain its position as one of India’s leading textile companies.
Since its inception in 2012, Piramal Renewable Energy has entered the fast-growing renewable energy sector in India.
Harash began his career as an analyst at venture capital firm Indocean Chase Capital Partners (subsequently part of JP Morgan Chase). After completing his MBA, he founded Thundercloud Technologies (India) Private Limited, an IT Company, in May 2000. In August 2001, he was appointed COO – Allied Pharma Businesses at Nicholas Piramal India Limited (now Piramal Enterprises Limited), where he was responsible for the turnaround and robust growth of all divisions. He was in this position till April 2004, when he took up his current positions.
Harsh plays competitive polo at the national level and is a keen football player. He co-founded Pune Football Club in 2007. He is also involved in tiger conservation.
Harsh holds a Bachelor of Science (Physics) degree from Kings College London and a MBA (specializing in Finance and Strategy) from the London Business School.
Rajeev Piramal spearheads the real estate business of the Ashok Piramal Group and leads all aspects of the business from strategy to operations. Under his leadership, Peninsula Land has grown robustly, developing over 6.4 mn sq ft of development in the residential, commercial and retail sectors. The total current value of these projects is estimated to be over Rs 14,000 crores. Another 16 mn sq ft of premium real estate is under development.
Under Rajeev, Peninsula Land transformed from the Mumbai-based company to one with operations spread across eight cities in four states. He also expanded the portfolio and included second homes and villas in Peninsula’s kitty.
Rajeev entered the real estate sector in early 2001 and became a Director at Peninsula Land. In the last 13 years that he has been associated with the real estate sector, Rajeev has played an instrumental role in developing some of the landmark projects in Mumbai.
Rajeev was part of the team that developed the first textile mill land in Mumbai, after the government opened up development of mill land. Peninsula Corporate Park was developed on textile mill land in Central Mumbai and this project transformed Lower Parel into a new age business district.
He also played a crucial part in the development of the first mall in India: Crossroads. Rajeev was in charge of the operations of Crossroads that brought in a new concept of shopping to India. Peninsula Business Park, Peninsula Technopark, Ashok Towers and Ashok Gardens are some of the other iconic projects developed under his leadership.
In 2005, Rajeev took over as the Vice Chairman of the company. He has enabled Peninsula Land to create a strong brand for itself. He firmly believes that quality and timely execution of projects are the key factors leading to success in the real estate business.
Rajeev is also passionate about sports. His love for football resulted in setting up the Pune Football Club, a professionally run football club in Pune, along with his brothers.
Nandan Piramal heads the high speed engineering business under Miranda Tools and leads the sales and marketing function at Peninsula Land Ltd.
Nandan overseas all aspects of business at Miranda Tools: from strategy to execution. The company has three manufacturing plants at Ankleshwar in Gujarat which produces engineering including carbide tipped tools.
Nandan also heads sales and marketing at Peninsula Land Ltd. He conceptualized and implemented marketing tools that have transformed project launches and improved sales. Projects launched under him include Peninsula Heights in Bengaluru, Carmichael Residences at Carmichael Road and Celestia Spaces at Sewree, both in Mumbai.
Nandan started his career as vice-chairman in Pyramid Retail after finishing his studies in London. He was in charge of handling all aspects of retail business from business strategy to expansion. Under his leadership, the number of retail stores increased to 40.
Nandan also conceptualized and launched Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at Ashok Piramal Group. The CSR projects include vocational skill training institutes and 7 mobile health care vans in Rajasthan and Maharashtra.
Nandan was responsible for the birth of Pune Football Club which was launched in 2007. The Club has won various trophies in a short span. The club has its own training pitches in Pune.
Nandan is an alumnus of University College, London.
